Community Development
- Community Development Exchange (CDX)
Formerly known as the Standing Conference for Community Development (SCCD), CDX is the UK-wide membership organisation for community development. CDX works to ensure that community development is recognised and supported as a way of tackling inequality and achieving social justice. As an organisation with members from across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, CDX reflects a diverse range of interests in community development across all sectors and fields.
- The Community Development Foundation (CDF)
CDF’s mission is to lead community development analysis and strategy, in order to enable people to influence decisions that affect their lives. CDF are active in policy, practice and research. CDF produce publications, give funding, run programmes and training .
- The Federation for Community Development Learning FCDL is the UK wide membership networking organisation that supports community development through advancing and supporting good quality learning and practice in community development.
- Department for Communities and Local Government
Department for Communities and Local Government sets policy on supporting local government; communities and neighbourhoods; regeneration; housing; planning, building and the environment; and fire. The Department is working towards giving new powers to councils, communities, neighbours and individuals.
- Locality
Locality is the national network of settlements, development trusts, social action centres and community enterprises. Locality helps people to set up locally owned and led organisations; supports existing organisations through peer-to-peer exchange of knowledge and best practice on community asset ownership, commisioning support, social enterprise, community voice and advocacy. Locality was formed in April 2011 by the merger of basaac and the Development Trusts Association, two leading networks of community owned and led organisations.
- Community Matters
Community Matters is the National Federation for Community Organisations. They currently have over 1200 member organisations across the UK and have been supporting community associations and similar organisations since 1945.
